Now I ran in to a problem with the work-flow and that was that I need to set up the lines and the color in two separate files. For short sequences this isn’t really a problem but when you have large animated scenes this is going to be a lot of extra work. So I needed to figure out a way to be able to use one animated scene as the base for the two separate passes. I was looking at the xRef function in cinema4d and was hoping I could overwrite the materials set on the original scene. Too bad this doesn’t work but I found a work around. If you use a xRef in your scene which has no materials applied it you can overwrite it and you can even use the selection tags you have applied to the original file. This still requires a lot of prep work but it certainly shows potential.
