I realize, now that I have some overview that the work in progress seems to go slow. The thing is that it the work goes into planning the mesh. You can model anything and when it doesn’t have to move it looks good usually, depends on the talent of the artist. But modeling for animation or deformation is a very delicate process. And calls for careful planning. You can read more about articulation, because that is what it is called at this great site hippydrome.
